Slipknot announce new tour dates for summer 2023
Slipknot will be hitting the road for a massive tour.
Slipknot is gearing up for a pretty big 2023.
Not only is Slipknot making an Iowa-heavy record, the band also has a special surprise show for those from their home turf and they’ll be going on a massive European tour set for the summer of next year.

Announced earlier today (Oct. 23), the band will be making their long-awaited return to the stage by hitting the road next year for a European run. The summer tour kicks off June 8 at the Hyvinkää Rockfest and it wraps up a little under a month later on July 5 for the Viveiro Resurrection Fest.

The band will be the Iowa State Fair Grandstand next summer, which is set to be the first time the group will be playing the event. The group will play on Aug. 10, 2023.
Of the event, Slipknot’s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan told the Des Moines Register:
“I’m gonna drive from my house directly to the stage just like I do when I come to the fair,” Crahan says. “It makes no sense why we haven’t played here.”
Vocalist Corey Taylor has said that 2023 is the year fans will see the band’s sixth full-length effort and first record release since 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter. And the musician’s already hinted that the new music is “Iowa levels of heavy.”
In fact, the album might be even heavier than that.
In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Taylor has shared some new information on the new songs, saying:
“The way we’ve been describing it is, ‘What if the guys who made Iowa matured? What if the kids who made Iowa grew up?’,” he says. “That’s kind of the way we’re looking at it because some of this shit is so heavy—but there’s melody, there’s really cool melancholic melody going on.”
He continued by saying:
“At a time when most bands are slowing down, I think we’ve written our heaviest song—one of them anyway—on this new album,” he continues. “It’s going to be f*cking crazy. People are going to sh*t their pants when they hear it.”
It was also reported that Slipknot are currently working on their upcoming release, and they already have around 20 demoed songs. Plus, the band has also teased a summer 2023 release date (!!)
It appears that 2023 is going to be a big year for the band, and we can’t wait.

Slipknot will headline a number of festivals as part of their 2023 European run

Slipknot are promising a new album and new masks in 2023, and now they’re touring itinerary is beginning to take shape. The masked marauders have just announced dates for a 2023 tour of Europe.
The band’s early summer European trek is mostly made up of festival appearances, with a few headlining gigs mixed in. The jaunt begins at Rockfest in Finland in early June and runs through the VOA Heavy Rock Fest in Portugal in early July. Dates are listed below, and you can grab tickets here.
In recent weeks, frontman Corey Taylor has been offering some insight into the next Slipknot album, remarking that the effort will be “our most ambitious, our most experimental” disc yet, and that the LP will contain one of the band’s heaviest songs yet.
In addition to the European tour, Slipknot recently announced that they will be headlining the Iowa State Fair in their hometown of Des Moines on August 10th.

Slipknot will embark on a tour of Europe in June 2023
Slipknot have announced a month-long tour of Europe for summer 2023.
Having been announced as the Saturday night headliners of next year’s Download festival, Slipknot have also revealed that they’re hitting up many more festivals across mainland Europe including Rock Am Ring, Graspop and Resurrection Festival.
The news of the tour comes after last week’s news that Slipknot will be playing the Iowa State Fair.
Slipknot are expected to release their new album at some point next year. Speaking exclusively to Metal Hammer, Corey Taylor said that the band have written the heaviest song of their career.
“Some of this shit is just so hard and dirty fast,» he told Hammer. «It’s fucking really good. It’s also us at our most ambitious, our most experimental, also us doing what we fucking do best which is basically when everybody thinks they’ve got us figured out, we just smack them in the face with everything we’ve got.”

I don’t care about the day before, and I don’t care about the day after! One thing I know about SLIPKNOT is that it’s impossible to not talk about us, so I really don’t get caught up in competition — I’m here to kick you in the face and make you remember it. End of story. I don’t know what TOOL is doing, and I don’t fucking care. I wanna hear their new album, but if I’m out playing, I don’t care what they’re doing, and they don’t care what I’m doing. But I’m gonna kick you in the face.»
Crahan added about the progress of the recording sessions for SLIPKNOT‘s new album: «We’ve been writing for the last two years. We went to L.A. seven or eight times for two, three, four weeks at a time, and wrote — seriously wrote. It’s a wonderful thing, and we’re not left with that stress of getting together when Corey‘s [Taylor, vocals] ready. We just decided to take that pressure off us. We’ve been doing this for 20 years, and if everyone just shuts the fuck up and lets us do what we do best — which is SLIPKNOT — then we will come through. There’s, like, 20 categories of things that need to be taken care of in order to make a SLIPKNOT album, and I’m talking to you today, on October-fucking-whatever, about headlining Download festival 2023. If that isn’t enough to make everybody wake the fuck up that we’re back, then I don’t know what the fuck else is. This is real.»

As previously reported, SLIPKNOT will perform at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand for the first time ever on August 10, 2023. Tickets for the concert go on sale November 2 at 10 a.m. via IowaStateFair.org, costing $43, $53 or $60 before fees and fair admission. An opening act is yet to be announced.

Taylor recently told Spain’s Resurrection Fest TV that SLIPKNOT‘s follow-up to 2014’s «.5: The Gray Chapter» album will likely arrive next summer.
«.5: The Gray Chapter» was released following a six-year hiatus during which founding SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray died and drummer Joey Jordison was dismissed.
«.5: The Gray Chapter» sold around 132,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores in October 2014 via Roadrunner.
Gray died in 2010 from a drug overdose, while Jordison was let go in December 2013, just before SLIPKNOT began recording the last album.

Some very exciting news to kick off the week: Slipknot are aiming for a summer 2023 release for their new album, and are planning a massive world tour alongside it.
Speaking with Resurrection Fest TV , frontman Corey Taylor has revealed that the metal titans have 20 songs that they’ve demoed, and as long as they can get into the studio early next year, it’ll be full steam ahead for a summer of the ’Knot.
“…It all depends on when we get in the studio,” he says. “Right now, the plan is for us to be in the studio early next year – like, first couple of months next year. So, a couple of months to get that going, a couple of months to get production, new masks, new outfits, new everything. And hopefully be able to come and start touring in the summer when the album comes out.
“Right now, we have 20 songs that we’ve demoed. And they are really, really good. So it’ll just come down to which ones come out the best, and we take that, we make the album out of that, put the album out.
“However, the way we’re talking right now, we’re trying to find ways that everyone can hear all the songs. So we’ll put the album out, and then maybe we’ll release something after that. It’s something that we’re really trying to think of: giving the audience more, giving the fans more of us.
“But it’s gotta make sense – it’s gotta be Slipknot. It can’t just be something that throw out there because we can; it’s gotta have art, it’s gotta have content, it’s gotta have passion to it.”

“I have fantastic news. Some of you know, but I’ll just make it official right now: we are working on a new album. It’s only in the demo stages right now, however we have very serious, tentative plans – and I say that because the best way to make God laugh is to announce your plans out loud – to go into the studio at the beginning of next year and get this fucker going. We have 16 songs written right now, and they are fucking dangerous. I loved .5 [The Gray Chapter], but this album, to me, makes .5 look like nobody’s business. This is Iowa levels of heavy. And I have to go out and tour this shit at my age – I can feel those songs in my back! I am really, really excited about it, and I talk to the guys in Slipknot all the time. I talk to Clown either every day, or every other day. I’ve been talking to Jim, V-man, Jay, Mick, Craig, Chris, Sid. We’re all really, really, really excited about this stuff, and it’s coming together really fucking well. So be prepared for 2023 – which, weirdly, is the 20th anniversary of our first album. Shit’s about to get fucking real again! So take that as you will.”

The tour kicks off June 9th in Salt Lake City and will be stopping by major markets like Dallas, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Atlanta. Joining the tour in support will be metalcore troops Of Mice & Men.
Last year, Slipknot began by hitting the road for their ‘Prepare For Hell’ Tour with Korn which was followed by their ‘Summer’s Last Stand’ Tour joined by Lamb of God, Bullet For My Valentine and Motionless In White. Later on, the band embarked on a North American fall tour with Suicidal Tendencies and Beartooth.
Slipknot will continue supporting their latest album ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ released in October 2014. The album reached #1 on the BIllboard 200 and followed up 2008’s ‘All Hope Is Gone’ which saw similar success. Current members include Corey Taylor, Mick Thomson, Jim Root, Craig Jones, Sid Wilson, Shawn Crahan and Chris Fehn along with touring members Alessandro Venturella and Jay Weinberg.
